joey, thought you might be interested in this article.

Thanks for sharing that speaking of didn't you say your cousin had swine flu before? If so is there any chance you could get her/him on here to discuss the experience with us? Anyways yeah I just checked the headlines on Fox and found this:
Quote
H1N1 Could Kill as Many as 30,000 to 90,000 in U.S., Report Says

The H1N1 flu virus could cause as many as 30,000 and 90,000 deaths in the United States and "poses a serious health threat" the Obama administration's advisory group on Science and Technology said in a report released Monday.

Deaths would be concentrated among children and young adults, according to the report. In contrast, the typical seasonal flu kills between 30,000 and 40,000 annually — mainly among people over 65.

The report predicts 1.8 million will be hospitalized during the epidemic, with up to 300,000 patients requiring intensive care units.

These patients could occupy 50-100 percent of all ICU beds in affected regions at the peak of the epidemic and would place "enormous stress" on ICU units.

More needs to be done to speed up the "preparation of flu vaccine for distribution to high-risk individuals," otherwise the vaccine campaign – currently scheduled to begin in mid October — will have potentially missed the peak of the epidemic, according to the report.

Monday’s report from the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, PCAST, shows a sober assessment of the dangers of a pandemic, but also serves as a pat on the back for a White House preparing for its first public health crisis.

I'm troubled by the sudden pressure from the government that we all need this vaccine. And I'm also pretty sure that if 10% of the ICU beds was filled with H1N1 patients that more than 90k would die much less 50-100%. I'm honestly just so confused on what to think about the swine flu H1N1 virus. Hoping more visitors who read this will give more feedback and maybe even help me draw a better conclusion.

I've been hoping to find somebody who has had Swine Flu and could share the details with us and haven't had any luck. However I did come across this article today:

Tampa woman recovers after nearly dying from swine flu
Quote
LAND O' LAKES — Cherie Starling admits she used to joke about swine flu.

But not anymore, says the 48-year-old mother of two from Carrollwood. Not after a severe bout with the virus in which she has spent more than a month — mostly unconscious — at three hospitals in Louisiana and Florida.

"It's not a joke. People should take swine flu very seriously," Starling said Wednesday from her bed at University Community Health's Long Term Acute Care Hospital at Connerton, in south Pasco County.

Though Starling is now recovering well and could be discharged as early as this weekend, her husband said things got so bad early in his wife's illness that a doctor in Louisiana told him he should probably get his affairs in order because they didn't know what was going to happen to his wife.

Wayne Starling, 43, said he told the couple's children what was going on, and even began researching wills for his wife, who didn't have one. But he didn't want to start contacting funeral homes.

I also found this article to be interesting:

Half of Health Care Workers Will Likely Refuse H1N1 Vaccine, Research Finds
Quote
About half of Hong Kong's health workers would refuse the swine flu vaccine, new research says, a trend that experts say would likely apply worldwide. In a study that polled 2,255 Hong Kong health workers this year, researchers found even during the height of global H1N1 panic in May, less than half were willing to get vaccinated.

Most said they would pass on the H1N1 shot, which is not yet available, because they were afraid of side effects and doubted how safe and effective it would be.

Doctors and nurses are on the swine flu front lines — and if they become infected, they may not only spread the disease to patients, but their absence from work could cripple health systems.

Looks like the forced vaccinations have begun. But I'm extremely curious if the military's version of the swine flu vaccine is the same as the general populations.

Quote
Perhaps none of us should have been surprised when the Department of Defense announced that all active duty U.S. military personnel will be required to take the swine flu vaccine.  After all, the Pentagon regularly makes U.S. military personnel take a large variety of vaccines - even experimental ones.  However, to hear that they will be forced to take this new untested swine flu vaccine was very disappointing for many members of the American military.

According to the DoD's press release, the mandatory vaccination program for the swine flu will begin about early October, and swine flu shots will also be made available to all military family members who desire to take it.

But the good news is that the swine flu vaccine will not be made mandatory for the family members of military personnel.

The swine flu vaccine will also be mandatory for ALL health care workers in the state of New York.  In fact, a new regulation now requires that any person who works in a hospital or a health care facility in the state of New York MUST get a swine flu shot or they will be fired.

Being former US Army myself I know first hand how the members of the military feel about vaccines. Just walk into any VA clinic and ask some of the vets in there where they believe the Gulf War Syndrome came from.
